Athens, GA’s Of Montreal. Until the last two albums, their brand of circus/carnie music did nothing for me. Then I had to re-evaluate. I had actually wanted to like these guys for some time as the drummer and I went to high school together. You know how it is, cuz…”root for the home team” kinda thing. Similarly, I had wanted to like Homestar Runner for the same reasons…which I still don’t really get, though the two brothers who create it are super-swell guys. [To be fair, I don’t really enjoy any animation, period.]

But back to our story. So after hearing the band’s latest album, The Sunlandic Twins and it’s predescessor Satanic Panic in the Attic (fucking great title btw), I changed my tune so to speak. Gone for the most part are the more “twee” aspects of their sound that originally turned me off, and in it’s place are new-wavish-electronica-pop-folk-jams. Whatever it is, I can call myself a fan of it, and maybe you could too.

Here are three tunes from their latest album, The Sunlandic Twins
