Earlier this week I posted on Greg Ashley and mentioned Syd Barrett’s solo work as a touchstone. This led me to dust off Syd’s 1970 eponymous second solo album…the last of his work I have actually heard. The record is graced with some great moments — Baby Lemonade is a classic in and of itself. Members of Pink Floyd were involved in the production here, and in retrospect appear to have been a steadying hand in Barrett’s fragile, troubled life. Now I just need to locate my copy of Pink Floyd’s Piper At The Gates of Dawn which in my opinion was Barrett’s masterpiece.
