Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you all! Although I am primarily of English heritage, I hold no ill will toward my Irish brethren. Having given us the Blarney Stone, lots of great music and Guinness Stout, there’s no way I could hold any sort of hatred in my heart.
Sadly, the Internet not having advanced in the ways that some might hope, I can’t work out a way to send you all a pint of Guinness. So you’ll have to settle for mp3s related to, in my mind, the greatest Irish band of all-time, the Pogues. (If you say anything about U2 in the comments, I will just plain ignore you, so there.)
For your pleasure, enjoy two tracks originally from my favorite Pogues album, If I Should Fall From Grace With God, followed by Mary Lou Lord doing a live cover of “Sayanora” from the Pogues’ album Hell’s Ditch, and then finished off with a track by Flogging Molly, a direct descendent of the Pogues’ musical lineage if there ever was one. Enjoy!
