Secretly Canadian, Jagjaguwar, (and now with the recent addition of Dean Oceans), have label wise, seen a huge increase in my listening habits the past couple of years. As brief overview, the increasingly eclectic Indiana based label collective have released albums by the likes of: Pink Mountaintops, Catfish Haven, Jens Lekman, Magnolia Electric Co., Songs: Ohia, David Vandervelde, Damien Jurado, and the Danielson Famile — and that’s just to name a handful. An impressive repertoire, not to mention they have barely been in existence a decade.
The latest addition to the team, the Dead Oceans label, will be releasing Bishop Allen’s eagerly awaited second LP following last years, self-released, 12 month EP project. Frida Hyvönen’s, SC released, 2006 album Until Death Comes continues to make the case for quirky Swedish pop.
