I originally intended to do one of these ‘eMusic reccs’ things four times a year, but I don’t think I have actually done one since May of 2006. Woops. It’s no mystery eMusic is Aquarium Drunkard’s preferred digital distribution outfit, and if you sign up via our link, you will be supporting the blog as well as wrangling your free MP3s. It’s what they call ‘a “win-win situation” I believe. Yeah.

You can sign up here for 25 free MP3s and cancel immediately if you don’t like the service. We dig it…you probably will too.

Here are some artists available via eMusic that A.D. fully endorses: Grizzly Bear, Elliott Smith, Cat Power, Sufjan Stevens, Townes Van Zandt, Ryan Adams, The Black Keys, Will Oldham/Palace, Slint, PJ Harvey, The Star Room Boys, Pavement, Belle & Sebastian, Panda Bear, Animal Collective, 16 Horsepower, etc. I could go on for awhile….

I would also recommend digging deeper as they have all sorts of interesting world stuff, jazz, etc, etc.

  1. A great album that eMusic happens to have is the Kinks’ Muswell Hillbillies

  2. Big fan of eMusic. I’ve been a member since 2003 or 2004. I discovered great bands such as The Decemberists and The Sea & The Cake and The Pipettes on eMusic. Everyone should join!

  3. eMusic is definitely the best! I’ve gotten about 95% of my music there since May 2006! (Most of the artists I purchased, I had no idea even existed before.)

    It’s a great deal!
