I was totally skeptical of this album too and pass right over it time and time again without giving it a shot, and then finally, after hear such good things from so many people I caved in and was blown away at how wrong I was.

Who knew these two could've/would've made such a cool album. This may go down as one of the big surprises of the year for my shelves. Hadn't thought about the Lanois-Burns sounds but they are present and it's too bad more records don't utilize that production style because everyone I have heard is pretty memorable.

I'm glad to see this album getting some recognition. I did a track-by-track review</a> last month. Like you, I wasn't sure if the pairing would work. I love Plant/Zep and like Krauss well enough, but it seemed a risky choice for them to collaborate. But it turned out to be one of my favourite albums this year.

and if people are still skeptical about post-zep plant, then check out his
'mighty rearranger' record from a few years back. stellar... definitely picking this latest up.

i wasn't as skeptical as you sound because I have heard AK cover Robert Plant before. Check out Big Log on her brother's first album, Victor Krauss' Far From Enough. Even has Bill Frisell and Jerry Douglas ripping it up. Really good album.
