And "Yes", Christian artists are usually able to stay out of the secular main-light, cause the people that print the tabloids and what not don't think the Christian world is interesting, nor do they want to ever be accused of attacking a certain religion (which no one would take it that way, but the main-stream media is THAT ignorant). It also depends on if that artist has crossed over into the secular music world at all. POD is a Christian band that has a big pull in the secular music industry, so they get a bit more press when it comes to that. But, a band like Anberlin, that has only barely touched the secular realm, doesn't get near the press.

It's fantastic you got to go -- I wish I could have.

Al Green brings the same great artistry and soulfulness to gospel music as he does to his secular material. I recommend trying a compilation, either "One In A Million" (Word 1991)(a little hard to find, and short, but excellent), or "Greatest Gospel Hits" (Hi/The Right Stuff/Capitol 2001)(17 songs, some of which sound 1980s-dated). There is also a well-made documentary (dating from the early 1980s I think) available on DVD "The Gospel According to Al Green" (1999) that I think you will find quite interesting and fun.

I know what you felt like, I did the same last spring and it was an amazing experience. I also squeezed in Sun Studios, Graceland, Stax and Willie Mitchell's studio.

Spending time in the church was both surreal and spiritually and musically mindblowing!

Hot damn! I meant to go on the 23rd as we rolled out of Memphis. Unfortunately, a long night of booze, blues and BBQ prevented us from getting there.
