I almost forgot that the VU was scary at one time. This is so great - it shows why people had to hide their children from this band!

As much as I love WhiteLight/WhiteHeat, I would usually skip The Gift. Its an odd curiosity, even for the Velvet Underground, but it doesn't hold up to repeated listens.

The rest of that album is magnificant. Dark, fuzzy, loud and demented. The electric guitar has never sounded so cool as on 'I Heard Her Call My Name'
