Aquarium Drunkard presents Jason Isbell and Justin Townes Earle this Thursday at Spaceland.  I missed Earle in Austin last week, but have only heard great things about his performance…and I’m also a huge fan of his daddy. Isbell is presently touring in support of his sophomore solo album, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, and always works his old DBT material into the set lists.

We have three pairs of tickets for AD readers.  To land a pair, leave your first and last name, a valid email address, and who you are most looking forward to see.  Winners will be notified via email and tickets will be at will-call.

  1. Jason Isbell, goddamn it…

  2. Justin and Jason performed this past Wednesday night at Sticky Fingerz Rock & Roll Chicken Shack here in Little Rock. A raucous, packed house braved a torrential downpour and were treated to three hours of great music. Justin’s set was too short, probably thirty five to forty minutes. He focused primarily on songs from his latest CD, Midnight at the Movies. His cover of the Replacements’ “Can’t Hardly Wait” and his own “Mama’s Eyes” were highlights. Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit were on fire with covers of “Psycho Killer” and “American Girl” and a remaining set list that included most of Jason’s original DBT songs, including a wonderful “Goddamn Lonely Love” (penned in Little Rock according to Jason) and “Danko/Manuel”. His more recent work from his own albums were given much more electric and expansive treatment and benefited from the twin guitar attack of Jason and Browan Lollar. The only disappointment was Jason’s exclusion of “Dress Blues” and “Brand New Kind of Actress.” But these are minor quibbles. The 400 Unit is a great live band. Do yourself and don’t miss it.

  3. Isbell for sure. His show at the Mint in the fall was great, looking forward to seeing the whole unit.

  4. Totally looking forward to seein Jason Isbell. His newest album is awesome and I can’t wait to see the new tunes live. Last time I saw him it was acoustic with Browan so this time with the full 400 unit will be epic. But I am curious to see Justin Townes Earle because I like Midnight at the Movies and I’ve been hearing so much buzz about him lately.

  5. Want to see Isbell, I haven’t been able to catch one of his solo shows yet.

  6. isbell, isbell, isbell

  7. Jason Isbell

  8. ISBELL, yo!

  9. I have been dying to see both of these cats and I missed them BOTH last time they were here – JTE because I already had tixx to another show, and ISbell because I was OOT… Needless to say – the song “Yuma” and “who am i to say” made there way onto many mixes last year for JTE, and “my mama’s eyes” is working its way onto ’em now.

    This is great.
