@greg – yes, it is TOTALLY a crime about The Good Earth being so hard to find. I am a lucky and proud owner of a vinyl copy, as well – its my pride and joy, for sure. =)

One of the biggest crimes is that The Good Earth is essentially out of print. It is an incredible album for the exact reasons stated above. You can get a custom burn of the masters on CD from TwinTone/Coyote records. But seriously, it should be in any record shop / online retailers. Proud to say I have the Vinyl and was thrilled to order the CD from Coyote. Hope this blog post makes more people but this album. If you liked the above tune, google feelies, coyote, good earth and it will direct you to the album page and you can listen to samples from the whole album. Decently long samples at high quality.

Thanks! I must check out the suggested albums (namely by Galaxie 500, The Feelies, and Rems Murmur). Another great 80s band, while of brief existence, is Dukes of Stratosphear, a tangent of XTC. Dukes of Stratosphear evokes late 60s psychedelic themes meshed with the music of Badfinger, and the result is phenomenal.

Love the choices. When you mentioned the way the vocals are sort of buried in the mix, becoming another instrument, on the Feelies’ Good Earth, I thought of REM’s Murmur album, then I saw that was the next album on your list. Great minds think alike!

Yikes!– What a great bunch of songs! Never even heard of Felt before…. And maybe this’ll get me to filling in some of these gaps (the NZ stuff, Galaxie, etc) that I’ve been ignoring for so long… And that’s a SUPER new Parson Redheads song to boot– thanks milliones!
