Last month AD revisited Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds first four albums: From Her to Eternity, The Firstborn is Dead, Kicking Against the Pricks, and Your Funeral…My Trial – all of which have just been reissued/remastered with extended liner notes, b-sides and unreleased tracks.  In keeping with the era, below is the band’s Posthof, Linz, Austria gig  from October 9, 1986.  The mp3s are culled from a vinyl bootleg (audience recording) known as the Black Folder.  Anyone interested in the intensity of the Bad Seeds during the mid-eighties ought to give these at least a cursory spin.

Twenty-plus years later and Nick Cave is keeping busy.  In addition to the 2007 Grinderman project and last year’s (excellent) Bad Seeds LP Dig!! Lazarus Dig!!, Cave penned both the screenplay and accompanying soundtrack for the The Proposition, and scored the upcoming film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s post apocalyptic tale The Road.  A renaissance man, indeed.
