Oh, also, if anyone here’s ever heard Roger’s soundtrack to the musical Big River, check out the original cast recording. It features John Goodman in the role of Pap and is as good as anything else he ever wrote.

Y E S !!! Thank you, thank you for giving props to Roger Miller, my all-time favorite songwriter of all time. I don’t remember day in my life where I didn’t listen to a song of his or think about a lyric of his, wishing I could write something so smart. Sadly though, I’ve often been a girlfriend that understood Roger Miller, yet the understanding has never been reciprocated. Maybe when I make my pilgrimage to the Roger Miller Museum in Oklahoma, I will meet that person. And then we’ll hear strains of “Little Green Apples” and it will be awesome.

Check out Roger’s TRIP IN THE COUNTRY album. Sure, the novely songs are great, but that album shows what an incredible “straight” songwriter he was.

It’s nice to see Roger get his dues; his music was introduced to me by a good friend. There’s something wonderfully simplistic about his songs, which causes them to be immensely catchy. Perfect music for crusing around town in a vintage big Cadillac with girls in the front and girls in the back.

I’m glad to hear someone praising Roger Miller. I’ve been a big fan of his for many years – ever since my wife introduced him to me. Her father had a few of Miller’s records when she was growing up so they always had a nostalgic quality to them for her. One year, her father gave her the King of the Road box set and it quickly became a must for road trips. We still pull it out today and now our kids are gaining an appreciation for the genius of Roger Miller.
