The new band jim was playing and recording with that you referenced is actually called "Ten High & The Trashed Romeos" not Snake Eyes. Jim did play with me in Snake Eyes but we disbanded in late 2008. www.myspace.com/trashedromeos

Had the opportunity to interview Jim many years ago at WLYX (college radio station in Memphis). He used the following description to tell eveyone who he was on stage at Altamont. In his words he said, "I'm the guy who looked like he came to change a flat tire." Another legend lost.

to lose jim & les paul in a week is not exactly what i wanted to hear... but both touched the lives of million through their music... my last hang with jim was in the apartment above proud larrys in oxford mississippi... we were there to do a benefit for the writer robert palmer (great night) and jim was telling the greatest stories to tony joe white and myself, especially his dylan stories, hysterically funny and insightful too... he and his wife (and cody & luther) were nothing but kind to the town of oxford while i lived there... ye shall be missed...

Sister Lovers is my favorite album bar none, and while Alex Chilton deserves most of the credit -- I've long thought he doesn't deserve all of it. It's such a weird sounding record -- really like nothing else I can think of -- the disjointed controlled chaos of "You Can't Have Me", to the stately sadness of "Take Care," to the descending-into-despair feedback-burned "Kangaroo" -- I'll always be grateful for Dickinson for plunging headlong into that project and not trying to tame it. RIP.

I am really, really sad to hear about Jim's passing. I love 'Dixie Fried' and I loved reading about him in 'It Came From Memphis'(which is a great, mostly unhearalded music book).

The last paragraph of your piece talks about some of the same things I've been feeling for awhile. We've lost Barry Beckett, Mike Seeger and Jim just this year. Better enjoy these people while we can.
