Le Loup’s sophomore LP, Family, hit shelves this week via the ever-burgeoning Hardly Art imprint. While I make no claims to have been moved by the ‘07 debut, the group appears to have re-tooled their sound straying from the overt electronic tendencies and, as fluxblog earlier noted, instead place a collective toe in nostalgia inducing Panda Bear waters (“Beach House” in particular).
This gauzy, dream-like, aesthetic has become increasingly popular the past couple of years with many of its would-be purveyors falling flat. Fortunately, that is not the case here. Whereas some sound collages come off as random, ill-conceived and just plain tiresome, Family, employs actual structure grounding excessive wonkery. Dig.

I’m definitely getting the Animal Collective vibe. Their album artwork is similar to MPP as well.
