Fantastic write up! This record is really special to me. Each listen always evokes a lot of intense feelings. It's soaked with nostalgia and rich colours.

@Kenny Bloggins let's hope they bring the noise next time around!

@Kat Bee I'd buy one too!

@the excellently-named Kenny Bloggins: That's a good point; I hadn't considered the old-school ACrs, probably because I came in around the time Strawberry Jam was released. I can definitely see where a fan of the really old stuff would find the new record clangy and unlistenable, and that's partly the reason why I think Feels is their best record--it combines all of their elements without sacrificing cohesion (uh, not that Animal Collective are ever really going for cohesion, haha).

@Kat Bee--hope that gets written; I'd buy a copy!

I definitely agree that Feels is AC's ultimate statement. However, I can make an argument that you can, these days, feel somewhat ambivalent about AC. For example, I'm fonder of their noise/folk movements, which MPP is totally lacking. I know that's an unpopular opinion, but MPP left a lot for me to desire. While I appreciate seeing the group doing something vastly different, I think fans of Campfire Songs felt a little left out this year, wondering where their strange friends went to and what all the booty bass dance beats are about. Regardless, excellent write up as always.

So true; couldn't agree more. I actually wrote a 33 1/3 proposal on "Feels" this year. It made it past the first round of cuts, at least!!
