One of my favourite records of the decade for sure and easily my favourite Cat Power record. I saw her live solo in 2000, she played with her back to the audience and didn’t do an encore, after which she returned to the bar with her entourage….

this album has been overlooked on a lot of the decade lists. glad to see it on here. “good woman” is one of my all time favorite tracks.

i love cat power. i think you are free is one of her “greatest” albums. a friend of mine argues that she could use some uppers; but i think she lost it when she made all of the more upbeat, big band tracks on the greatest and in her collaborations. she’ll always remind me of sad, romantic times. can’t wait to see her live someday!

“good woman” is one of the most brutally depressing songs i’ve ever heard. such a great record.. i saw her at the apollo theater this year (with jim white on drums) and it was jaw dropping.
