You couldn’t have nailed it better with that. Very well done.

There’s a reason this album is at the top of most decade lists. It deserves to be there on so many levels.

For me it was the mix of rock with strings. I don’t think anyone has done it better since Nick Drake (hardly rock) but they are put on the same level of using strings in the most perfect way to compliment their music.

great write-up about an incredible album. sadly, the only time i’ve seen them (with wolf parade and bell orchestre opening, no less) was a year after the album was released. needless to say, it was a spectacle.

also, re: the first paragraph, the liner notes are in the form of a funeral program.

This is exactly how I feel about Funeral. It’s definitely my very favorite album of the decade. An extraordinary album by an extraordinary band!
