I have never heard anyone describe Kid A that way, except myself. True in every aspect… near the end anyway. The beginning was just a lot of mumbo jumbo. Radiohead is the greatest band of all time. Hats off to you!

y’know what’s crazy about this segment of “Decade”? i whole-heartedly dislike and am bored to tears by Kid A. i was part of the backlash in 2000/2001 and i STILL didn’t like when i gave it another honest go two years ago when In Rainbows came out… but thanks to this blog, i am gonna go put it on right now.

favorite album of my life thus far. sure im only 21 and have lots to learn but ive never felt an album as i this one. i love that the album doesnt have any obvious “singles”, and flows so effortlessly. Also its funny that you mention that you love the album when its cold and rainy. ive spent many a night just driving around in the seattle rain just listening. great review. great website. happy new year.

This album takes me right back to college. The National Anthem, How to Disappear, Everything in Its Right Place, Idioteque…so many absolute PERFECT songs in what seemed like all different styles, yet the record is so cohesive as well.

I remember seeing Radiohead on the first US show of their Amnesiac tour (2001 I believe) in The Woodlands. I was lucky enough to see and meet the band during their last US show before that (the OK Computer Tour, Radio City Music Hall in April ’98), and I remember how different the band seemed live. It was amazing!

i remember a friend of mine saying of kid a that, “if this is the future of music, then i am honestly scared.”

she wore a curious smile

clearly, she loved the album, but simultaneously, she wondered at the possible future such a game-changing album presaged for popular music worldwide.

much like you, kid a has accompanied me and i’m thankful for that as well as for for all incredible music i’ve enjoyed during this past decade.

It reminds me that I’m curious and suggests to me that I’m not sure if my musical tastes will ever fully mature, or if I even want them to. Because maybe I’d rather them live in a constant state of flux, of growth.”

Kid A was a great album, however it was not in my top 10 of the decade. Really, what sticks in my craw is the adoration and praise lumped upon it by any and all music critics. Like it was a requisite to maintain your journalist license. Yes, it was unique but I think people have gone to far in dubbing this the next genre changing album. Regardless, thanks for the great reviews and news. Have a great next decade.
