Not unlike Harlem, their Austin brethren, the Strange Boys concentrate on rock & roll’s primal roots forgoing the bullshit and pretense. It is what it is—refreshing. Their debut album, …And Girls Club, is still in heavy rotation having first caught their live show a year ago. Now a six-piece (they added Mika Miko’s Jenna Thornhill last fall) the band have a new album in the can (Be Brave) and are on tour supporting Spoon/Deerhunter. Here’s their cover of “Baby Please Don’t Go” sounding like a twisted version of the Amboy Dukes. Hat tip to travis for the news.
