that’s really silly Casey has to defend this piece. the whole spectrum is listed here, from food carts to nice restaurants. not really a “rich tourist” life. you can get a $12 burger at le pigeon. sometimes you have to pay more for good food, and yes, it’s worth it. deal with it.

@I wow…woooowwww…, you bring up a good point. there is a discrepancy.

I chose the restaurants I like to go for something special (and in many of them, i note times and ways to enjoy something nice on the cheap–for instance, Pok Pok can be expensive, but not if you’re just getting a bowl of the Khao Soi Kai which is plenty for one costs $11.50). These places are definitely luxuries. i’m sure we all can agree that the occasional luxury is something we all enjoy. Perhaps you have a luxury of your own?

30 days out of the month I stay home & cook. for the sake of the article, i thought listing a few restaurants i enjoy would be more interesting than listing the Kitchen In My Apartment where I make Kimchi Fried Rice 6 nights out of the week.

pretty nice from going from living in a van to living the life that rich tourists check out on their visits and yuppies lounge in all year (pigeon, screen, clyde common,
navarre, pastaworks, pok). (the money spent on those meals could have easily paid for the rent for multiple months, let alone the one month you lived in a van.

i love this feature, but maybe now that it’s about a town ive spent a lot of time in i am realizing it is not much different than frommers.
