While college radio may have lost some ground over the past 15 years, I discovered the following while passing through Atlanta last week listening to WRAS 88.5. Via Slumberland Records comes Belfast’s Girls Names, an infectious fuzzy take on dirty shoegaze with pop pull. “I Lose,” culled from the group’s new LP Dead To Me, draws on everything from ’60s Phil Spector to the JAMC’s Psycho Candy. This and the new Crystal Stilts record, In Love With Oblivion, own this sound in 2011.
