I already have my ticket, but I just wanted you to know I’m superexcited for the show! Their last show at the Echoplex was off the chain! And Paperboy Reed should be great too… if he gets some horns behind him!
1 | Rachel February 8th, 2012 at 10:15 amIt’s hard to pick just one, but let’s go with a classic: Professor Longhair. Thanks!
2 | Ben February 8th, 2012 at 11:46 amI’m picking Louis Armstrong because he was such a prolific ambassador and he really advanced jazz music to a huge audience. He also was one of the most brilliant instrumentalists in any music.
As a saxophonist myself, Sidney Bechet has to receive an honorable mention.
3 | Casey Butler February 8th, 2012 at 12:03 pmAllen Toussaint, hands down.
4 | addison f February 8th, 2012 at 1:42 pmKermit Ruffins & The BBQ Swingers

6 | Avi February 8th, 2012 at 8:13 pmKermit Ruffins because you can’t beat a Thursday night at vaughans!
7 | Austin Slakey February 8th, 2012 at 9:59 pmJames Booker is the greatest!

9 | Adam Galanter February 9th, 2012 at 10:56 amI love these guys.
10 | Doug February 9th, 2012 at 10:16 pmThey are probably my favorite in a while.
Earl Palmer – danced with Ida Cox, drummed behind Fess, Fats, Smiley Lewis, Little Richard, the list goes on …
11 | rob schweber February 10th, 2012 at 3:01 pmMeschiya Lake is hottest thing on two legs singing down there these days. And she used to be in a traveling circus.
Hurray For the Riff Raff wrote a perfect song with “Daniella”. Plus they used to hop trains.
The Hot 8′s got more street cred than any one band deserves
James Booker- amazing. Paved the way for the Fess.
Irma Thomas had her first kid at 13 and at 70 is still giving Aretha a run for her money.
And I’ll probably need a hearing aid one day from so many nights with Rebirth at the Maple Leaf and Donna’s (RIP)
GOOD LORD. An impossible question. Just so glad you keep bring them to Echo Park.
