Throw Me The Statue :: Moonbeams

Throw Me A Statues’s upcoming LP, Moonbeams, was the only album I listened to over the course of the weekend, and it’s now carrying me into the new week. A good album will do that. If you like American lo-fi indie (and we sure do), this one is for you. Released next Tuesday (it’s already been available, in limited capacity, on Baskerville Hill records) on Secretly Canadian, Throw Me The Statue is the brainchild of Seattle singer-songwriter Scott Reitherman, buoyed by the talents of various friends including Casey Foubert, he of Pedro The Lion, Sufjan Stevens notoriety.

Six weeks into 2008, Moonbeams has, thus far, anchored itself as one of my favorite LPs of the new year. Look for dates at both San Francisco’s upcoming Noise Pop! festival, as well as SXSW this March.
